A symbol of authority in the National Assembly (The mace) was taken by some hoodlums on Wednesday. They went into the Senate plenary and walked away with the symbol of authority of the Upper Legislative Chamber, causing pandemonium.
The incident was led by suspended Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, a member representing Delta central Senatorial District, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Senate had reacted to today's incident, which is also an affront on legislative. And the Leadership of the House has come to express ther support against this action."
The Senate response reads:
This action is an act of treason, as it is an attempt to overthrow a branch of the federal republic of Nigeria by force, and it must be treated as such. All Security agencies must stand on the side of due process and immediately mobilize their personnel to retrieve the mass and apprehend the master mind and the perpetrators of this act."
