Bowers was scheduled to get married to Nikolaos Zaharopoulos just two weeks after she was killed
A Georgia mother was allegedly shot dead by her 13-year-old son just nine days before she was set to get married.
Dominique Bowers, 37, was found dead at her home in Warner Robins around 1.30pm on August 13 after her son called 911, Daily Mail gathered.
After receiving the emergency call, police determined that the teenager was a possible suspect and worked to track him down while town and county deputies headed to Bowers' residence, where they found her dead.
The next day, police confirmed that the victim was Bowers and the juvenile taken into custody was her son.
Police have not revealed a motive in the killing.
According to an online wedding registry, Bowers was set to get married to fiance Nikolaos Zaharopoulos on August 27. The couple became engaged on Christmas in 2019, according to her Facebook page.
Bowers identified herself on her Facebook page as a veteran and Builder 2nd Class of the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Navy Seabees.
She also listed that she was born in New York City and previously worked with the Virginia Department of Transportation. She had moved to Georgia in early 2020.
Bowers' son, who has not been identified by police, is charged with murder and aggravated assault, police said. He is being charged as an adult, according to Warner Robins Police Chief John Wagner, citing the district attorney.
