Nigeria Independence Day since 1960 is an official national day in the country celebrated on the first of October. It marks Nigeria’s proclamation of independence from British rule on 1 October 1960. So for this reason, Nigeria celebrates its independence on 1 October every year.
So Nigerians, let's not take our independence for granted. Let’s do our part in making Nigeria a better place as we celebrate the bravery of our fathers and their gift of freedom. Long may we wave our flag!
