A DAILY POST correspondent in Osun, Sikiru Obarayese, has been arrested for his presence at the End SARS protest venue.
Obarayese is to be charged to court despite identifying himself, the platform reports.
However, Police Commissioner, Wale Olokode, said he heard about the situation and directed the withdrawal of the case.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) leadership in Osun has condemned the development.
A state government official expressed dismay about the overzealousness of the policemen.
“He identified himself. The attempt to emasculate journalists is an aberration”, he fumed.

Celebrities and youths on Wednesday held a memorial car procession at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos State.
The parade announced by rapper Falz and comedian Mr Macaroni took place amid heavy security presence to commemorate the one year anniversary of the #EndSARS protests that led to the disbandment of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.
