Yoruba Nation Will Be Great Within Five Years – Banji Akintoye Calls For Global Unity And Urgent Action To Secure The Future

Prominent Yoruba statesman and National Leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM), Professor Banji Akintoye, has made a powerful appeal to Yoruba sons and daughters across the globe, urging them to unite, act swiftly, and commit wholeheartedly to securing a brighter future for the Yoruba people.

In a passionate address delivered on Sunday, Prof. Akintoye sounded the alarm over the creeping influence of Nigeria’s socio-political and cultural decay on Yorubaland. He stressed the critical need to safeguard the region’s identity and chart a bold, independent path toward progress and self-determination.

Reflecting on the visionary leadership of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo—who spearheaded Western Nigeria’s rapid development in the 1950s—Akintoye expressed strong belief that the Yoruba Nation can surpass those historic achievements in under five years, given the right mindset and divine guidance.

We Yorubas will make our country a great nation in the world in less than five years by God’s power. This is your duty. Everybody, be determined—the day is about to dawn, and you should be ready,” he declared.

He urged Yoruba youths in the diaspora to return home and take part in rebuilding a nation that reflects their values and heritage.

“You just need to come home quickly to free and make the country better so that they will not turn it into what Nigeria is. No Nigerian culture should be allowed into our country—it is different,” he said.
