Nigeria — A male student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has tragically lost his life after reportedly jumping from a three-storey lodge near Royal Kitchen Junction, close to the university’s main gate.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, according to sources. Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed the student may have been under the influence of hard drugs when he leapt from the building. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
While details are still emerging, residents of the area said they heard a loud thud before discovering the student lying in a pool of blood. His roommate, found in their shared apartment shortly after, was said to be incoherent and also suspected to be under the influence of the same substance.
As of the time of filing this report, the deceased’s identity had not been released, pending official notification of his family.
When contacted by newsmen, the university’s spokesperson, Mr. Louis Okwudili Njelita, stated briefly, “This information is not up to my desk now for me to make any comment.”
