Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus recently took to her Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the current state of the Nigerian economy.

In her post, Eniola highlighted the encouraging trend of decreasing imports and increasing exports, viewing it as a positive indicator of the nation’s economic growth. She emphasized that this shift suggests the Nigerian economy is expanding and transitioning from a consumption-driven model to one focused on production.

Sharing the statistics for the year-to-date 2024, she pointed out that Nigeria’s imports stood at ₦24.44 trillion, while exports reached ₦38.59 trillion, leading to a record-breaking trade surplus of over ₦14 trillion within just eight months.

Eniola noted how unprecedented this shift is, stating that such a trade surplus has never been achieved in Nigeria’s history. She expressed optimism, calling it a "refreshing shift from consumption to production," a development that could be instrumental in fostering long-term economic stability and growth.
